In this handout from the FSB, the US embassy worker accused of spying in Moscow goes through passport control and security at Sheremetyevo Airport on Sunday ahead of his flight back to the United States.
Ryan Fogle, a career diplomat working as the third secretary at the American Embassy, was arrested in the Russian capital on Tuesday 14 April by Russian Federal Security (FSB) on suspicion of spying. He was caught wearing a blonde wig under a baseball cap and carrying a map of Moscow with wads of €500 notes.
According to the FSB, Fogle was trying to recruit a Russian intelligence agent over the phone. His arrest was caught on camera and widely shown on Russian television.
He was later declared persona non-grata and ordered to leave the country before May 20.
